GOVERNMENT EMIGRATION.
Her Majesty's Emigration Commisoioners have, during the past month, chartered the following vessels, viz., British Crown, of 1100 tons, belonging to Mr W. H. Daunt, of Liverpool, to sail from Birkenhead about the 3rd of May, for Canterbury, New Zealand, 3t LI4 14s per statute adult, to convey the operatives from Lancashire, who have received a passage by means of the funds remitted from the Provincial Governwent for their relief; and the Robert Small, of 723 tons, belonging to Mr Robert T. Hunter, of London, to said from Southampton for Melbourne, Victoria, at Ll4 12s per statute adult; to be ready for the reception of passengers on such day as the commissioners may appoint between the 2nd and 7th of June. They also gave notice of their intention to receive tenders on Thursday last, the 23rd April, for a ship to proceed to Canterbury, New Zealand, between the 15th and 22nd of June; and to be furnished, subject to the usual conditions, with Winchester and Graveley's, or Normandy's fresh water distilling apparatus, and with a competent person to manage it. —Home News.
