June 8. The fall of rain here on Saturday was greater than ever known before. All the creeks rose lo a fearful extent, seaicely ;i bridge hut what was in jeopardy. Much., damage has been done to many claims. Ai Chiltcrn all the shops were flooded. The Buckland mail was lost in crossing a creek, and a Chinaman drowned. The body has not yet been recovered. The fall of rain was three inches and eisht-tenths in eigthteen hours. At a certain time, the fall was much greater than ever recorded here.
