SHORTEST A.ND MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAKE DIGGINGS. FOR THE INFORMATION OF NEW ARRIVALS The nearest route for pedestrians going to the Lake, is the North Road. About miles from town, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Bttsh (\f& miles) the dray track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti (\2 miles )_; from thence follow the dray-track to the Elboio Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if the Oreti is high the East Bank can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation house at Wallace, town, 7 miles from Invereavgill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles; another at thz Elbow, 54 miles ; another at Rogers, 74 miles ; and another at the foot of the Lake, Q2']*niles.
