QUEENSLAND.
Tn its me'eorolocical observations for March, the Queensland DaVy Guardian sa y S : _" The rainfall this month has been very large, almost equal to that of February ; 14-36 inches bave fallen in twentythree days ; taking the months of February and March together, the rainfall has exceeded that of the whole year 1862 by 1-23 inches. During- the twenty-four hours ending 2 a.m. on the 18th, the fall of rain was the largest ever recorded in Brisbane since the meteorological observations have been taken, and amounted to 5-45 inches ; this quantity exceeds the next largest, which fell on the 30th of August, 1861, by exactly one inch " In this colony, says the Guardian, there is, as yet, no indication that the scab in sheep exists at all. The land system of Queensland has been found in its practical 'operation to possess defects which must be admitted even by those who plainly perceive the immense advantages it has been the means of conferring on the colony. A writ has been issued under the Great Seal of the colony, discharging Mr. Edward Gregory, late of Goondiwindi, from the office and functions of a magistrate of the territory of Queensland and its dependencies.
His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has been pleased to appoint the Hon. James Cockle, Chief Justice, to be the Equity Judge of tbe Supreme Court of Queensland.
