During- the twenty-four hours ending 2 a.m. on the 18th, the fall of rain was the largest ever recorded in Brisbane since the meteorological observations have been taken, and amounted to 5-45 inches ; this quantity exceeds the next largest, which fell on the 30th of August, 1861, by exactly one inch " In this colony, says the Guardian, there is, as yet, no indication that the scab in sheep exists at all. The land system of Queensland has been found in its practical 'operation to possess defects which must be admitted even by those who plainly perceive the immense advantages it has been the means of conferring on the colony.
