SHORTEST AND MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAKE DIGGINGS. FOR THE INFORMATION OF NEW ARRIVALS The nearest route for pedestrians going to the Lake, is the North Road. About £| miles from town, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Bush fl3 miles) the dray track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti fl2 miles); from thence follow the dray-track to the Elbow Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if the Oreti is high the East Ba?ik can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation house at Wallace town, 7 miles from Invercar^.7l ; avo':her at the Lime Wls, 25 miles; another at the Elbow, 54 miles ; another at Rogers, 74 miles ; and another at the fool of the Lake, 92 miles.
