Mr Harvey appeared for prisoner, After evidence had been heard, prisoner was remanded." Civil Case. The Gsea* Gravels CAsii. — Pearson v. Campbell. — Mr Macdonald again appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Harvey for defendant* Plaintiff, examined by Mr Harvey, said that he had verbally given permission to Mr Mar chant and defendant to remove the gravel in question, but he could not say when he so gave that permission. The case was then remanded for eight days, in the absence of Mr Marchant. Satubday, 18th Apmt. Escaping fbom Custody. — John Hottrke, who recently took " French leave" of his friends, the gaol warders, was charged with being illegally at large. After 6Orne evidence had been heard, the case was remanded.

Inebriates. — John Green, for being drunk and disorderly in Esk street, and Charles Brown, for the same offence in [Tay-street, were fined 5s each.

The^t of Goi/d. — James Russell, charged with stealing a small bag of gold, was brought up on remand, and fully committed for trial.

Escaping prom Gaol. — John Rourke, brought up on remand, was fully committed for trial.
