Strangers tva veiling to and from Invereirjjill and Bluff Harbour, if on horseback, will find lhat the distance between the above plncos (20 miles) may be travelled both with spnrol and comfort by lenving Invercargill at half-ebb, and the Bluff at low water. Travellers on foot to leave (, c former place at first of the ebb, and the latter at last rjuarter ebb, bearing m mind that a westerly or .B. W. gale will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to got under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horueraou m from 2£ to 3 hours, an on foot m from 4£ to_6 hours.
