TOWN BOARD.

The usuaj weekly meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon. Present — Messrs Beaven (in the chair,) Monkman, Grieve, M'Arthur, M'lvor and Garthwaite. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. 1. A letter from the Superintendent intimating that it was not the intention of the Provincial Government, during the present season, to proceed with works connected with Puni Creek. 2. A letter from the engineer, Mr Marchant, stating that no objections existed to vcrand/.hs beinjr constructed, provided they extended the whole length of frontage of the section on which they were erected. 3. A letter from Mr Pearson, Commissioner of Crown Lands, on the removal, by direction of the Board, of gravel from the reserve between Puni Creek and Tay-streefc, informing them that the management of Ciown lands is vested in the Commissioner, and requesting the Board to refrain in future from interference in the matter. After some discussion, it was moved by Mr. M'Arthur, seconded by Mr. Garthwaite, and c rried — "That the Cb-'k do write to the Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands, in answer to his letter of the 23rd inst., and r:c x -est that gentleman to inform the Board by what authority he interfered with the mar gement of Municipal lleserves." The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Hughes, and state that the Board had considered his application, and that he would be at liberty to erect verandahs in accordance with plans in course of preparation by. the Board. It was moved by Mr. M'lvor, seconded by Mr. Grieve — " That gravel be taken from the embankment opposite the Court-house, as the best and nearest place for supplying materials required for the construction of TayI street." Mr. Harvey, solicitor, laid before the Board conditions of sale of Municipal Reserves, After some discussion, and alterations made, it was resolved — " That the conditions of sale and lease as now submitted by Mr. Harvey be adopted." Some accounts Avere then gone into, and the meeting separated.
