SHORTEST AND MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAKE DIGGINGS. FOR THE INFORMATION OF NEW ARRIVALS The nearest route for pedestrians going to the Lake, is by the North Road. About 4 J tniles from toicn, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Bush (\8 miles) the dray track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti fl2 miles); from thence follow the dray -track to the Elbow Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if tho Oreti is high the East Bank can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation house at Wallacetvxen, 7 miles from Invercargill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles; another at the Elbow, 51 miles; another at Rogers, 74 miles ; and another at the foot of the Lake, 92 miles.
