We have received no positive information on the subject, therefore do not vouch for its accuracy. The circumstances which gave rise to the rumor are as follows : — On Friday morning last about twenty men arrived at Kingstown (St. John's) from Rees'. in quejt of a prospecting party who were said to have found payable gold in the neighborhood of the old Wakatip diggings. They searched about for a few days, but did not succeed in iindin«j the men they were ir search of. Mr Turner, who keeps the accommodation House at Rogers', purchased twe ounces of gold from a man who came in foi provisions, and who,. on being questioned a; to where he obtained it, declined to give any information on the subject. The gold re sembles that found at the old Wakatip diggings. Until some definite information is receivct on the subject, we would caution diggers froir placing too much reiance on the news.
