TASMANIAN MARKETS.
HOBA.RT TOWS. The heavy rain which descended continuously during the former part of the day completely put a stop to business, and it was not until late in the afternoon that any bustle was observable about the wharves. A fair demand exists for flour for local purposes, and the article is variously quoted at £12 and £13 ; wheat, 4s 9d and 5s ; bran, Is 4d. Oats are in demand and meet with ready sale at 5s 6d. Cape barley, 6s 3d ; English, 6s ; ppas, prey and white, sell from 4s 3d to 4s Gd. There are but few potatoes in the market, and quotations are £6 and £6 10s. Onions, £11 to £12. As staled in our issue of yesterday, hydraulic pressed hay has declined in price, and cannot be quoted higher than £7. Country pressed, £6 to £6 10s; loose, £.5 to £o 15s. Butter, Is 8d to Is 10d.— Mercury. Feb. 20. In the markets to-day there was little or no change to be noticed in quotations. Hay is somewhat cheaper, and 30 tons of best country pressed were sold at £5 5s per ton. Loose is worth from £5 to £5 10s per ton, and hydraulic pressed from £6 to £6 108. Flour, for local use, still commands «ale at £12 and £13 per ton. Bran, Is 2d t> Is 4 1 per bushel. Wheat, best samples, were selling at is 9d to os. Oats were in demand, and easily saleable at from 5s 3d to os 6d per bushel. We did hear of a parcel changing hands at 5s 9d, but this price is above the market quotations. For gome short time yet we do not anticipate that many large sales of potatoes will be effected, although, if they were now ripe enough, there exists a fair inquiry for lots for shipment. Butter remains at Is 8d to Is 10. — Advertiser, Feb. 25. LAUNCE3TON. There is no alteration to notice in the flour and grain market. Flour, £10 to £11 ; new wheat, 3s 9d ; old, 4s to 4s 3d ; oats, 5s ; loose hay, £4 10s; bran. Is to Is 3d; potatoes, £8. Tasmanian oatmeal (Ritchie's) is somewhat lower, 34s per cwt. being now the price. — "Examiner, Feb. 19. But little business has been transacted in the flour and grain market since our last, and quotations continue unchanged. Flour is dull ot sale at £10 to £10 10s ; new wheat, 3s 9d ; old, 4s to 4s 3d. Oats go off pretty freely at from 5s to 5s 2d. The Ziska, for Dunedin, took upwards of 4000 bushels oats, besides about 60 tons of flour, and a small auantity of wheat. Trussed hay ia quoted at from £4 to £1 10s. There is very little being pressed, and we cannot give any quotation for it. Potatoes have declined, £7 being the present rate.
