At these rates considerable qunntities of pon^s have been fortvnHpd to the gold fields, and - stocks proportionately reduced in lown. The imports have not presented any features of an unusual character, and biv;n rather light than otherwise in ouunh'ty. The money market is without ntternti-w. and morfr<ra£eß of the beat character difficult; to negotiate at rates of interest varying from 10 toISJ, and occasionally 15 per cent. There hn« been much inquiry during the month for stout calimps, American drills, and moleskin trousers, which are very scarce. Good bottled beer, of known brands, is also scarce. Ames" and Colin'? picks and shovels are quoted at nominal ' rates, there being but few in the market. FiOUß— Saleable at £17 10s to £18 for AdeWde. and £15 103 to £18 10s for Victorian brands. Stock light, but considerable shipments expected from Adelaide and Melbourne, Oats — Californian of good quality saleable at 7s 6d, Colonial 9s to 9s 6d, but prices likely to be much affected by the incoming harvest. Soap very dull of sale, at £32 to £33 for Liverpool. Tobacco, in bond. Crown and Emu, 5a 3d to 5s Cd; half pounds and 10' s, 3s 6d to 4s 6d. Jbonstohoery — Ordinary descriptions dull of gale and small de-nand. Picks, shovels, and axes of best brands much sought for, and American preferred. Infprior qualities of miners' tools and gal vanised iron buckets overstocked and unsaleable.
