OR IG I N AL CO RR ES PO N D ENCE.

WE DO NOT HOLD OUHSELVF.S HESI'ONSI HI,E TOR THK OI'INTON'S EXPKESSKD BY OUU COKKKtiPONDENTS. To (hi Flifnr of the Inverrarffil? Times. gi Ri — () n my arrival some days ago ia InI vrrcnruill. I vas surprised to find ihnt the row elections had taken place, and that a. nicmbcT had been chosen for the district of which I am an elector, without the knowledge of my neighbors or myself; in fact, that it wis only known to a favored few. I may safely sit v that no elector on the western I fide of the Jacob's River knew anything j about it. Upon inquiry I found that notice had beO'-> given in the Southland New-sin only two publications. Is this notice long i (vouch, I would ask, for men who live miles inland, and who do not g<n thrir newspapers very often f>>r a month or six weeks after thryare published? Now this short notice on the part of the government gives rise to f ,iave suppositions, and men ask the question —Is the 'man lately elected for the Mat aura district the chosen of the government or of the people ? I should say, of the government. Many of the electors complain that Mr Rogers, the new M.I.C, is not a squatter in the "Southland district, and therefore feel more annoyed on that account that they had no voice in the matter. At the same tin.c, as far as I am concerned, he -would have had my support had he required it, as I believe he hns the interest of Southland at heart. Such underhand actions on the part of our government go move and more every day to bring them into contempt. Excuse me troubling you with my little grievance. Yours faithfully, An Elector. Riverton, February 2nd, 1563.
