THE INVERCARGILL AND BLUFF RO AD
Strangers travelling to and from Invercnrgill and Bluff Harbour, if on horeebaclr, will find that tho distance between tbe above places (20 miles) may be travelled both with speed and comfort by leaving Invevcargill at half-ebb, and tbe Bluff at low water. Travellers on foot to leave the former place at first of the ebb, and the latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly or 8. W. galo will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horsemen in from 2J- to 3 hours, an oa foot in from 4^ to tS hours.
