We .void at our yards SO head cows and bullocks, ex Free Trader, from Gipiis Land, fit about fills per ]oli lbs. Also, 10 head, cx Corio. from prime place, at an average of £21 10s per W.d. There is si ill tin active demand for the d : :u r in^s, leaving this market for a time to be fir ;i!ied by imported stock. We quote l^st quality i ecf at GOs per 100 lbs ; second do, at 50s per do. Fax Caivks are in demand at £■!• 10s to £(>, according to age and quality. Stokb Cattle. — During the M-eek we have receiver! several shipments from Wellington, in all about 400 head, which are now in paddocks near town. We hear that Messrs. Lloyd anil Jfvdes' mobs (mixed cattle) running near Waikoimiti, has been sold, delivery near Dunstan. We have numerous inquiries for cattle, two years old and upwards, at £12 to £lA. We quote mixed herds, at £9 10s to £11 10s, according to age, condition, and place of delivery. Working Bullocks and Pairt Cows. — We are in receipt of 40 head splendid workers, ox Lombard, w. ich we will sell at our yards on Friday, 2nd January, 180.3. AVo quote first-class workers at £<>0 to £05 per pair. Really good dairy cows are scarce, and saleable at £15 to £20. Fat Siif.kp. — Our market continues barn of wethers fit for the butcher; the trade are entirely without stock on hand, and any lots ofl'ering duviiif the ensuing week will meet ready sale at l'ul ly our quotations. The only lot yarded during the week were 300, ex Francis Honty, from Portland, sold by us, at an average of 2(ls ; these were ii little better than stores, l'r ime wethers would readily demand KM to 9d per lb. .Stojjr Sitekp. — We do n<>(. hear of nny transactions in Provincial bred stock. We have sold a few imported ewes, at prices as below. We have several lots of both ewes and wethers in our Lands for sale, including Mr Ik-attic's M,400 2-tooth ewes, bred by John Bell, Esq., of Warrurnbecn ; iind 1500 ewes, bred by Francis [ferity, Esq., Portland ; both lots can now be seen at the White Swamp. We quote market rates for New Zealand bred owes, 3, 4 and G-toolh, 27s to 30s ; do wethers, do, 25s to 2Gs; imported ewes, tlo,2.'js to 2(5s ; do wether, do, 22s to 21s. Station I'kofeuty. — We do not hear of nny properties having changed hands during the week. Houses. — The market has been very fully supplied (in fact almost glutted) with very good useiul Block, eonsequfnlly prices receded slightly. There is still a great demand, and buyers plentiful for everything offered ; during tbe week we have disposed of about 225 horses, including tho following lots : — Mr Lenrmonth's, ex Nor'-Wesler ; Mr Andrews's, ox Dervvent Hunter ; Mr Holly's, ex Omeoj Messrs M'Callum and Mitchell's, ex Eliza Goddard; Mr Brayton's, ex Torrent; Mr Tierney's, ex Torrent ;" and Mr Gleadow's, ex Mm-i---posa, all of which realised very satisfactory prices •. We shall sell on Monday tho remainder of Messrs Gleadow and Tiorney's lots, and Mr. James's lot, and on Tuesday Messrs Fisher and Andrews's lots. Wo do not expect any further decline in pikes,

now that mostly all tho late consignments are cleared off, on the contrary, wo helicvo from tho immense numbers of horses now required up country, that unless the market is fully supplied, prices must take an upward tendency. The current prices are : — First-class heavy draught horses, from L7O to L 95 ; second class do do do, L 45 to L 65 ; inferior do do do, L3O to L4O ; first-class saddle and harness horses, L55t0L70; medium do do do, L 35 to LSO ; inferior do do do, L2O to L3O ; good strong useful packers, from L3O to LSO.
