Wednesday, sth November.

A motion for the adoption of the report on the Sea Witch, 4rc., was rejected after a sharp debate, by nineteen, to sixteen. The Assembly has decided to go into committee on Friday, to consider the propriety of recommending a grant of £3,000 to Mrs. Chisholm for immigration services. The foundation-stone of a new bridge over the Hunter has been laid at Maitland. A t the Caledonian Lead, Lachlan,the prospects are six ounces to the dish. Tho mail from Mudgee to Sydney was again robbed yesterday, by a single bushranger, and the letters gutted. The pending elections for the Sydney aldermen are causing a good deal of local excitement.

In the Assembly, this evening, a warm discussion took place on the Council's amendments to the State Aid Bill. Many members ..are of opinion that, being a money bill, the amendments encroach on the privileges of thu Assembly.
