POSTAL NOTICE. LETTER CAEEIERS’ DELIVERY Deliveries by Letter Carriers are made daily Twn delivery at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sburban delivery at 9 a.m. MAILS WILL CLOSE AS FOLLOWS : Monday, 21th December. Eor the United Kingdom, the Continent of Europe, the United States. Canada, Central and South America, the West Indies, via San Erancisco, Samoa, and the Sandwich Islands, etc., at S p.m. The English mail of this despatch will be due in London on 30th January. Money orders at 4 p.m. and registered letters at 5 p.m. For Nossi Be, Mayotte, Madagascar, Reunion, Mauritius, Seychelles, Algeria, Natal, France and other, Continental countries, per French Packet. For Beehuanalaud, Cape Colony, Mashonaland, Natal, Orange Free State, and the South African Republic, by the Aberdeen Line (direct) from Melbourne, at 8 p.m. For the United Kingdom and the Continent of Europe (via Brindisi), India, China, Japan, Straits Settlements, Aden, Egypt, Tasmania, and the. Australian Colonies, per s.s. Manapouri, at 8 p.m. Money Orders, 4 p.m., Registered Letters and Parcels up to 5 p.m. The English mail of this despatch will be due in London on sth February. Correspondence intended to be forwarded by this opportunity must be specially addressed via Brindisi. Note.—The s.s. Kahu will leave Lyttelton for Chatham Islands on Monday, 31st inst., at midnight. Christmas and New Year’s Day being Post Office holidays, all mails advertised for despatch on those days will be closed on Monday, the 24th and 31st inst., at 8 p.m. There will be no delivery by letter carriers on either Christmas or New Year’s Day, but, instead, a general delivery will be made over the counter at the Post Office on Monday, 24th and 31st, between the hours of 7 and 8 p.m. On the 26th (Boxing Day) the Post Office will be open in all branches from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the usual despatch of mails will be made up to 10 am. The suburban receivers will be cleared at 7 a.m. and the town receivers only at 9 a.m. On the 25th and 26th inst., and the Ist prox., the Telegraph Office will only be open between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m., and 7 and 8 p.m. The Telephone Exchange will be open as usual.
