SOUTHLAND EDUCATION BOARD.
Friday, Dec 7. The monthly meeting of the Board was held at 11 a.m. It was reported that Miss M. Lind had been appointed permanent head teacher at Mataura Island, and Mr H. T. Taylor head teacher at Caroline. The following tenders were accepted : —Erection of teacher’s residence at Waimumu, W. Hamilton, £74 10s ; teacher’s residence at Seaward Moss, P. McGregor, £65 ; addition to school at Makarewa, C. Davis and Co., £52 10s • repairing and painting of Invercargill South School, J. E. Aldred, £66 10s; outbuildings and repairs at Mataura, A. Nixon, £2B 16s 2d; repairing and painting of school at Riverside, J. E. Aldred, £lB 17s 6d; ditto ditto at Hedgehope, J. E. Aldred, £25 18s ; ditto ditto at West Plains, J.. Harwood, £9 9s. Tenders for the lease of the following school sites were accepted :—Section 12, block 1, Mokoreta, A. McPherson, £1 10s per annum; section 330, South Hillend, M. O’Brien, £1 2s 6d; section 5, block 7, Lillburn, J. Mackintosh, jnr., £1; section 23, block 2, Waikawa, F. Auchinleck, 2s 6d per acre. A number of applications for small works and supplies of school appliances were granted. The Board adjourned to Friday, 11th January.
