Missing Friends
The following persons who left the United Kingdom for Australia, or were last heard of in these colonies, were recently inquired for in Lloyd’s Weekly London Newspaper, the editor of which has the addresses of the inquirers. Persons who discover their friends, through this republication are requested to acknowledge the fact when writing to the editor of Lloyd’s. Beckett (Henry) left England about 1874; last heard from in January, 1882, sheep-shearing at N. Z. A. Company’s Station, Waimea Plains, Southland, N. Z. Brother Thomas asks.
Baxter (Mrs), nee Alma Jones, was last heard of on October 4, 1892, as Miss Alma Obrey, serio-comic vocalist, Gr. P. 0., Wellington (N. Z.). Her mother longs for news. Drowning (William Anthony) left Hill Top Farm about 10 years ago for Christchurch (N. Z.). Sister Sarah asks. Brother John dead. Ponton (James Moody) gave his address four years ago : Care of Mr Logan, coach builder, Wanganui (N. Z.). His mother has written several letters, but has had no reply. Fielder (Benjamin and Benjamin Phillip, father and son) left London for Auckland (N. Z.) in October, 1867; last heard from the son 16 years ago, when he stated he was coming home. Mother and sister Emma ask. Poole (James and Annie) are inquired for by sister Johanna. James was at Bunnetts, New Cross, 20 years ago, and Annie went to Wellington (N. Z.) 22 years since. Rowley (John Crapper), painter and plumber, native of Litchfield, left his home in Pleasant-street, Burslem, Straffordshire, in 1871 ; last letter from Sydney six years ago; he is believed since to have gone to Auckland (N. Z.). Daughters Ann, Louisa, and Ellen ask.
