JUVENILE ODDFELLOWS' SOCIAL. In connection with the Loyal United Juvenile Lodge of Oddfellows, M.U., a very pleasant social eveningwas spent on Friday, 26 th October. After the usual business, the hall wasopened to the friends of the members, who took full advantage of the privilege extended to them. The chairwas taken by Bro. Todd. The proceedings opened with a capitally-ren-dered pianoforte solo (“ Le Carillon ”)> by Miss Goldie, whoh deserves special mention. Songs were contributed by Misses Alice and Effie Goldie, andBros. Aitken, McLean, Miller, and Goldie of the adult lodges, while DMeredith and several others of the juvenile branch also added to the general pleasure. Competitions took place for readings and recitations,, which passed off very successfully. The first prize was awarded to Bro. G. Brass for reading, and Bro. R. Galbraith for recitations. D.P.G.M.. Bro. Stead presented the prizes (five* in number) to the winners, and alsomade a few very appropriate and wellchosen remarks. During the eveningrefreshments were handed round, and though over 160 members and were present there was abundance of good things for all. The accompaniments were played by Misses Lizzie Meredith and Alice Goldie in firstclass style, and the members may well congratulate themselves on the of their first social, which closed about 10 o’clock by all present joining ini singing “ Auld Lang Syne,” all expressing the hope that at no distant date they would have the pleasure of spending another evening with theJnveniles.
