TO OUR NEW J. P.
(CONXEIRTJTED.) Some say to be a Provost, sir, Is high as high can be, But surely it is nothing like A new J.P. A Bailie is a personage Of very high degree, But cannot hold a candle to A new J.P. To be a full-blown Councillor, The sweets of office pree, Is truly small potatoes to A new J.P. A Lord is to be envied, sir, In all since ritee, But yet be can’t be mentioned with A new J.P. Bad Baronets are good enough, When knights they cannot be ; But less than ought are they beside A new J.P. A Radical when given a lift Soon turns a good Toree, And long may this continue, says A new J.P. Small wonder that a Government, Engineered by J.G., Should make of poor material A new J.P. It does not matter very much, If jovial our J. T., A cloak for saint or sinner sure’s A new J.P. Now peace and justice, gentlemen. Are good things, all agree, And so right heartily we toast To our new J.P. Heddon Bush, Aug. 18th, 1894.
