LOVE TRUE AND HELPFUL.

Oh, dinna, dinna tak’ the drink, My ain dear man ; There’s troubles thick round us the noo, But I’ll help ye a’ I can. I’ll be a carefu’ true gude wife, As ever wife can be ; Sae dinna ye lose heart, gude man, For better days we’ll see. And dinna, dinna tak’ the drink ; It only maks things waur ; Let’s warsle on, and look abune — I’m sure its better far. And He wha marks the sparrow’s fa’ Will hear our humble cry; Although cast down, we winna sink : He’ll lift us by and by. Think on our winsome weans, gude man, Wee Bob just like yersel’ And the bairnie lauchin’ in my arms And our wee bonnie Bell. Our Bobby is a gleg wee chap, But mithers aye think sae; And yet gin he had but a chance, He’d maybe shine some day. I canna bide that they should sec Their faither in the drink ; For aye they look sae wae to me I wunner what they think. And aye I try to hide it frae Ilk little searching e’e — For oh, ye were sac gude to them As faither e’er could be. Then dinna, dinna tak’ the drink, Be true to them and me— And seek Sod’s help for daily strength To bid the tempter flee. And happy days shall yet be ours Within our cottage door— Wi’ peace and plenty, love and joy, As we have had before. Tibbie
