The N. M. and A. Co report an follows of the Invercargill markets of 12th J une : Fat cattle —Only 26 head yarded, mostly good quality and medium weights, and the trade being dependent on the entry prices were much better than lately ruling, the lots' being cleared at 1/8 to L/9 for best bullocks and L 6 to L 7 for medium, cows of only a medium quality to L 4 15s to L 6 10s. Fat sheep —1717 entered to a very dull market, butchers not caring to purchase and buyers for freezing not operating. The bulk of the entry was passed, the prices offered being simply ridiculous. Bales were made as follows Heavy ewes, IQs to 12s j ordinary, 6s 6d to 9s ; and also a few freezers at 11s 6d.
Store sheep—lo9o yarded. The demand was very limited,jsmall lots of good sheep not being offered for at all, doubtless owing to
lack of feed. *A. few sales were made, but at absurdly low prices. Store cattle—9s yarded, very few of which were sold. A few sales were made at 20s to 25s for calves and L 4 to L 4 10s for dairy cows in rather low condition.
