The course of true love did not run smooth in the case of a man named Duncan in a Scottish town the other week. He was to be married, but, on the eve of ,the wedding, the marriage garments had not arrived. Duncan went to a clothier’s shop and was fitted with a suit and gold studs. He then bolted. The clothier gave chase, and the bridegroom was apprehended at the marriage ceremony. A fine of 16s, with the option of seven days in jail, was imposed.
