gOUTHLAND COUNTY. DOG-TAX COLLECTION. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the clog registration fees were due on Ist Janu, ary, the license fee for each dog being FIVE SHILLINGS, except in certain cases as pro. vidcd for in “The Dog Registration Act Amendment Act, 1890,” namely:— “ Any shepherd or drover not being a resident of any borough or town district, or any farmer, shall, upon making and signing the declaration that his dog or dogs is or are kept solely for the purpose of herding or driving of sheep or cattle, be entitled to have any number of sheep or cattle dogs not exceeding three, registered on payment of a fee not exceeding two shilling and sixpence each ; and if any such declaration be false or untrue the person wilfully making such false declaration shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds or to imprisonment for any period not exceeding one month.” The registration fee for each dog under such declaration is fixed by County Council at TWO SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE. The following Registration Offices and Registrars of dogs have been appointed, namely : Abraham McKenzie, Oteramika, for Waihopai, Awarua and Wallacetown Ridings. Alexander Smith, Winton, for Winton Riding. .Wm. H. Wood, Gore, for Oreti, Hokonui and Mataura Ridings. Philip R. Clarke, Waikaia, for Waikaia Riding. R. W. Robson, Waikawa, for Toi Tois Riding. Dogs can also be registered for any part of the County at ■the County Council Office, Clyde street, Invercargill, as already appointed. R. P. MacGOUN, County Clerk and Treasurer.
