There was a good attendance of ladies from all the surrounding districts, including a number from town. The programme opened with the grand march, in which about thirty couples took part. First-class music was supplied by the Makarewa String Band (Mr Norris, conductor) and gave every satisfaction. During the evening songs were given by Messrs J. Kingsland, T. Irving, and 0. Bellworthy. Mr Charles H. Moir made an efficient M.C., and also acted as secretary, and, with the assistance of others made a success of the ball, both financially and otherwise. The gathering broke up about 3.80 a.m. with the singing of Auld Lang Syne, and three cheers for the bachelors. CoRRESPODSNT.
