The markets are thus reported on for the week ended 11th April: — Fat Cattle—llo were yarded and this included some 20 head from the North Island, which were, as regards quality and weight, cousiderably above the average Burnside Cattle. All penned were disposed of at an advance on last weeks prices. Best Bullocks brought LlO 2s 6d to Lll 5s ; medium to good, L 8 to L 9 ; light, L 6 10s to L 7 17s 6d; best cows, L 7 17s 6d to L 8 17s 6d ; medium to good, L 5 10s to L 7 ; light and aged, L 3 to L 5. Fat sheep.—The largest entry seen at Burnside for some time was yarded 3189 being penned, and of these 300 were merino wethers. The crossbreds were chiefly ewes of medium quality with a few pens of choice and about 20 pens of fair quality wethers. Owing to the fact that most of the trade had killed out, and with the assistance of a demand for export, all good quality mutton met a fair sale, while poor quality were harder to quit. Best crossbred withers brought 18s 3d to 14s 6d, one or two pens extra heavy 14s 9d to 16s, medium wethers, 11s 3d to 13s ; best crossbred ewes, 12s to 13s ; inferior to medium, 6s 9d to 10s; and merino wethers (the majority of which were inferior), 3s to 10s.
