W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.

At the afternoon meeting' a resolution was passed that the Nbw Zealand Superintendent of literature be authorised by the convention send specimens of litexature to the different Unions recommending them to procure numbers of the same.
The President proposed, and it was resolved that the 19th September be set aside year )y as a special day for women’s efforts in the Union, and a day of thanksgiving for having obtained the franchise.
A recommendation to petition the Crovernment o. - inebriate homes was negatived on being put to the v T ote, on the ground that as coming from the union such a. request would fee inconsistent with their unremitting demand for the abolition of intoxicating liquor. It was resolvmd to send a letter of sympathy to Miss Willard on account of her continued retirement from active work through ill-health. Friday, 2nd March. The day’s proceedings opened with the usual devotional exercises. The roil was then called ; there being a full attendance of members. Votes were taken for New Zealand officers for the year, Mrs Schnackenber°’ being re-elected President ; Mrs Ricfdell, corresponding secretary ; Miss Kirk, recording secretary ; Mrs Troy, treasurer. The various heads of departments were also appointed. Noontide prayer was observed, after which a petition to Parliament that the age of consent be raised to 18 years was signed by office-bearers and delegates. At the afternoon meeting, votes of thanks to the press, to those who had entertained the delegates and to the public were passed, and the convention closed.
