Messrs T. Chambers and Co., Venetian blind makers, turn out of their premises over GOO blinds every year. These go all over Southland and occasionally to the Lakes District. One of the chief features of Messrs Chambers and Co.’s blinds is the richness and purity of the various colours, especially the green. Expensive mineral colours arc ground down on the premises by the two grinding mills before being mixed for the required tint. The laths, made from Californian redwood, are all hand-dressed, and after being cut into the required lengths arc onerated upon by a mw stylo of mortising machine. It cuts the piece right through, finishing the hole with one blow. Mr Chambers has samples of thirty different shades of blinds—some of the colours being exceptionally rich—and fits his blinds with the best woven tapes and cords. The firm also make a specialty of wire blinds for offices and street windows. J lie general use now made of the Venetian blinds almost every new building being fitted with them—is proof of their superiority in every way over all other blinds.
