A. A. Mac Gibbon on behalf of the N. M. and A. Co. reports on the Invercargill markets as follows : During the week we have had auction sales at Gore, Wairio, Diption, all of which have been fairly successful, and, being the beginning of the usual surplus stock sales, have gone off fully up to expectations of those who had been studying the market. Of 'course prices are easier than last season, but this is only in sympathy with the values of fat sheep. A good many buyers still complain that store sheep are not low enough to allow a margin for fattening, while naturally growers consider they are selling at very low

p.ices. Gore market was good for fat lambs, which sold up to 10s 9d for best. A large quantity •of the dealers’ lots not coming up to owners ideas were passed. Good 2-tooth wethers brought 11s 2d, and several cull lots fair Values. Wairio Sale, Wednesday, 14th —About 2000 Sheep were entered, and prices for good lots were fully up to late sales, in fact lambs were selling much better than anywhere else, air though owners would not admit the fact,and in several cases refused to sell at prices offered. Best fat lambs brought 10s 7d; others, 8s 6d to 10s ; while stores were selling from 6s 6d to Bs. 2-tooth wethers brought 9s to 11s; a few lots of fat and cull ewes did not sell, it evidently being too early for this sort. A few pens of cattle sold well, fat cows bringing JLS 2s 6d for medium sorts; store steers, let 15s ; dairy cows, 14 17s 6d ; yearling steers, 395, Dipton, Thursday, loth iust. —About 2000 sheep were yarded, and although buyers were not numerous, almost every line was cleared at satisfactory prices. Best 2-tooth wethers, almost fat, brought 11s 8d ; fat ewes (heavy), 10s lid; fat lambs, 9s to 9s 6d ; stores, 6s 6d to 7s 6d; culls, 4s to 5s ; cull ewes, 5s to 6s 6d; cull merinos, Is to Is 6d; 3-year-old steers, 15 2s. The next sale was arranged for Thursday, T th March, when a large entry may be expected. Privately we have sold 150 head ■eattle and 1500 crossbred sheep, all at full market rates. tekin and Fat Sale. —These are slightly re■duced in volume owing to the time of year, hut everything to hand commands full prices.
