LABOUR-SAVING IN BUILDING.
3 DALG-LIESH’S PATENT CHECK- , lAG MACHINE. r 5 3 This very simple machine invented; 5 by Mr Gi. Dalgliesh, formerly a • partner of the firm of McCallum and 3 Co., sawmillers, and now of Oamaru, i should commend itself to carpenters t and builders. The time and labour i expended in checking plates and rails 3 is reduced to a minimum by Mr Dal- - gliesh’s patent, which not only does 3 the work quickly, but also gives a i uniform check, thereby ensuring a - better job in fitting the pieces to--3 gether. The machine should be fixed ) down to the ground with stakes at : top and bottom, or if the joists are i laid on sleeper plates the machine can ; be very easily fixed upon them. After . the plates have been marked on the , face edge they are placed under the I bench of the machine, along w 7 hich ■ the cutter is drawn by simply pulling i the lever handle. The bench may be , raised or lowered to admit plates, &c., of rav-ions thicknes •?. At Oamaru a good trial was given i to Mr Dalgliesh’s invention, which ' satisfied a large number of carpenters ; of its utility. Messrs James Manson i and Co. are the local agents, and will 1 be pleased to show the machine to ■ anyone interested.
