Mr T. C. Brown, our highly respected second master (writes our Winton correspondent) was the recipient of an illuminated address at the close of the school. Mr D. Cameron, the chairman of the committee, in a few well chosen remarks, made the presentation. Mr Wyllie, head teacher, on behalf of the staff and scholars, presented Mr Brown also with a handsome writing desk. Although both being a surprise, Mr Brow'n responded in suitable terms, stating it was with regret in a sense that he was leaving, but he considered it was the duty of every person to advance himself or herself as much as possible. Mr Brown has got an appointment in the school he left in Victoria some nine months ago, at a considerably increased salary.
