DUNEDIN MARKETS.

The markets are thus reported on for week ended 6th inst: — Pat Cattle. —Only 74 were yarded for the week’s requirements, mostly medium to good quality, with a few heavy weights. The trade was fully represented, and competition brisk throughout. Prices ruled higher than those of last week. Best bullocks brought LlO to LII 12s 6d, medium to good L 8 15s toL 9 17s 6d, light L 6 17s 6d to L 8 12s 6d ; best cows, L 8 10s to L 9 17s 6d ; a few extra prime up to LI2 7s 6d, medium to good L 5 5s to L 8 7s 6d. Fat Sheep. A moderately large entry, 1536 being penned; all crossbreds, and of good to prime quality, and mostly shorn. Owing to the short supply last week bidding was brisk, and although last week’s prices were not maintained, all lots were disposed of at good prices. Best crossbred wethers(in wool), 17s 6dto2os 6d ; medium, 15s 6d to I7s3d, best crossbred ewes (in wool), 17s to 18s 6d ; medium, 14s 6d to 16s 3d; and a few extra prime shorn sheep up to 18s ; medium wethers (shorn), 12s 9d to 13s 9d ; best shorn ewes, 14s to 15s 9d; medium 11s 6d to 12s 9d. G-rain. —Wheat; The demand during the past week has been dull, with no nrospcct of a rise. The local millers hold fairly large stocks, and cannot be induced to operate, except at prices decidedly in their favour. The inferior descriptions are more readily sold at 2s 4d to 2s sd; while prime milling is worth 2s 8d to 2s 9d; inferior, 2s 6d to 2s 7d (ex store, sacks in). Oats : The demand is somewhat limited. As consignments are small the market is firm at late quotations, but no advance on these prices has been obtained. Quotations : Milling, Is 10Jd to> Is ll^d; discoloured, Is 9d to Is lOd (ex store, sacks extra).
