CAPTAIN PEASE.
Captain Pease, of Riversdale Rifle Volunteers, has been connected with the corps, since its inception in 1886, when he was elected lieutenant, and acted in that capacity until the retirement of Captain Donald, about 18 months ago, when he obtained his captaincy. He is an enthusiastic volunteer, and it was no doubt a matter of no small pleasure for Captain Pease to see the favourable remarks made by Col Fox on the corps in his now famous report. In the initiatory stage o£ the company, when the “ war chest ” was a& a very low ebb, Captain Pease assisted his then chief—Captain Donald—very ably itfc the organisation and successful carrying out of movements for placing the company in a. good financial position. He is a capable; officer and very popular with the men. During his command the corps has progressed, and is now in a very good position, both, financially and in a military sense. His volunteer career in this colony will soon be ended, for it is his intention to return to thes Old Country at an early date.
