SERIOUS BUGGY ACCIDENT AT WINTON.

On Tuesday afternoon a serious accident occurred to Mrs Liddell, her daughter (about 18), and two young children. They were starting for a drive from their house in Park street, when the horse became unmanagable, and bolted down the main thoroughfare at a great speed, and on reaching McWilliams’ corner, attempted to turn into Brandon street, but failed. The horse aud trap were thus forced on to the footpath adjoining Hill’s hotel, the result being a terrific collision. The trap, a four wheeler, was thrown upside down upon the asphalt, the occupants being precipitated with great force on to the hard footpath. It was thought by those who saw the accident that fatal in juries must have been sustained. On the arrival of Dr. Riley it was found that Mrs Liddell had received very serious injuries, her right leg and arm being broken. Miss Liddell, who was sitting behind, and who showed great presence of mind in placing her arms round the children from the start, had the small bone of her right leg fractured. The children fortunately escaped with a few scratches.
