AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association of New Zealand, Ltd., report having held their regular fortnightly sale at the Invercargill saleyards on Tuesday. The entry was a bare one in fat sheep and cattle, consequently prices were high, and for cattle especially were much in favour of sellers. Some of the very choicest bullocks reached £l4, while medium quality brought up to £lO ss, and cows £8 12s 6d to £6. At these latter prices we cleared our entry, and could have placed several pens more at the same rates. Store cattle were in strong numbers, and advanced prices were reached for them, and unless a few pens that were reserved too high, the whole sold at advanced rates. Yearlings brought from 25s to 30s ; small two-year-olds up to 475; dry cows from £3 10s to £4 5s ; steers, £4 5s to £5 10s ; milk cows £3 to £6. At these prices we cleared a good entry. Fat Sheep—Best pens brought up to 17s lOd; medium and light, 14s to 15s6d;or just equal to freezing rates. Hoggets were fairly represented and the price ha* improved nearly Is a head during the last month. Best well-wooled healthy sorts brought 14s 9d, and medium sorts 12s 6d, while small and inferior ranged from 7s Gd to 8s Gd. We cleared our entry at the medium rates. Ewes with lambs at foot were in fair numbers and we sold three lines at 14s Gd to 15s 9d, lambs given in. Pigs—Only a small number forward, and these were hard to sell at late rates as purchasers think the price too high. We sold small slips at 16s. Horse Market—While the local market was dull on Saturday through buyers being now fully supplied with horses, we had a good sale of Mr Boss’ Victorian horses, and although prices were not equal to rates ruling two months ago, still, for the season of the year, we consider it was a first-class sale. Much credit is due to Mr Ross for the condition they were placed on the market. Following are the prices realised—£3o, three at £2B, two at £27, £2G, £25 10s, £24, £22 10s, £2l, and £18; and for other vendors we sold geldings at £32 to £ls, and hacks at £lO 10s to £6 10s
