“A DEPOSED LORD” ANSWERED.

TO THE editor. Sm, —I am very sorry to observe that “A deposed lord ” seems somewhat given to making rash statements. I did not say that women resembled angels. No, no, they were made to “match the men,” and I’m afraid celestial beings would fail in that respect. Now, if, as your correspondent says, the lords of creation have been making their hacks ache in working for idle women, why, then, the poor fellows have been very foolish. “A deposed lord” leaps to the conclusion that because I w 7 rote in favour of the franchise, it must needs follow that I would like to deprive him of beer, tobacco, &c. I would do nothing of the kind ; if a man wishes to indulge in these things, by all means allow him to do so; likewise, should he exhibit a desire to hang himself, hand him a rope. I should like your correspondent to state clearly in what way he thinks the weaker sex ought to set about making themselves more suitable companions fox' the sterner sex. Evidently he thinks that women are at present sadly inferior beings, since the thought of “ feminine handwriting ” causes him to attempt a sneer. It is really too cruel of him to threaten us with a wholesale exodus of eligible bachelor's. The men who would leave New Zealand fox* the reason he gives would be sadly missed, w r ould they not ? Hoping that ‘ A deposed loi'd” will write again, when he is in a calmer frame of mind, —I am, Razzle Dazzle.
