HOUSE CLEANING HINTS.
When AA-all paper is discoloured by the hair of people, rub carefully Avith stale bread. Sweep doAvn dust and spider-wchs and Avipe the Avail paper straight down from the top with a piece of cotton flannel tied over a broom ; change this often to prevent soiling. Clean paint with ammonia;—atahlospoonful to a quart of water; it is also excellent for unjaainted woodwork. Never put soap on paint, as it kills the oil, causing it to flake from the wood. Whiting removes all spots and discolouratious. Wet a flannel, dip in the Avhiting, and rub. Wash off Avell and Avipe dry. In fact, whenever you clean let the last wipe be AA’ith a dry cloth. .Scour yelloAv spots with powdered bora v Oil-cloth must be Aviped poi’fectly dry as it is Avashed. Use little soap, and this in tepid Avater, change often. A good brush and a piece of dry flannel Avill make an oil-cloth look like neAv, especially if linseed oil or skim-milk be well rubbed in after washing. If in addition to these precautions they are varnished annually they are almost indestructible.
