SUCCESS TO FEMALE FRANCHISE.

Ho ! sisters all throughout the land, Your voices raise as hand in hand We take an independent stand Since we have got the franchise. But first of all let us return The thanks that in our bosoms burn, To those who did not danger spurn. That we might have the franchise. From first to last through thick and thin, They fought our cause, resolved to win Or die ; hut never to give in Till we had got the franchise. Now let our grateful hearts reply, We shall not see our heroes die. But send them back triumphantly. The first fruits of our Franchise. There’s Jimmie Kelly, Mac and Ward, Whose noble voices we have heard; They now will reap a rich reward For giving us' the Franchise. But Duthie, Fish, and all the rest, Who tried to keep us sore oppressed, Shall be flung out as “ social pests,” Abhorring Female Franchise. There let the useless rubbish rot. By future parliaments forgot. While o’er Now Zealand famous floats The flag of Female Franchise. And when the coming ages see In every land such liberty, Their undivided wish shall be Success to Female Franchise. John Patterson. Invercargill, Sept. 27th, 1893.
