The J. Gr. Ward Farmers’ Association of N.Z., Ltd., report, having held their regular fortnightly stock sale at the Invercargill sale yards on Tuesday, the 19th inst. The entry in fat cattle was only a medium one, and the quality, excepting a few trucks of the wellknown Herefords, was just only average quality, and in several pens were stores offered as fats. Best bullocks brought up to £l2 15s ; others £8 10s to £9 ; small sorts, £5 10s to £7 ; cows, £8 to £5 each. We sold at above rates on account Messrs Bobert Young, John McGregor, A. S. Jenkins, T. Higgins, F. Price, and other vendors. Sheep—Only a medium entry of fat, which realised up to 18s t for extra heavy weights, to 17s Gd ; light weights, 14s to 15s 6d. We sold on account Messrs Morton, Finlayson, 1). C. Gorman, F, Price and others, 351 at above rates. Fat Lambs—We sold the first of the season to Mr Leckie, a prime sample (30 days old) bred by Mr Reid, Monte Christo, from his Shropshire rams and crossbred ewes. There was a large entry of store cattle forward, but mostly in low condition, and, as grass is still scarce, the demand was only limited. Best steers brought £5 10s; medium £4 10s to £4 15s, and cows 60s to 70s eaeh ; yearlings from 25s to 40s. At above prices we cleared our entry. Horse Market—On Saturday, we had again a fall entry, including some splendid draughts and, although farmers are now busy sowing still, the demand for best sorts is quite brisk —up to £3O for young active sorts ; medium, £ls to £2O; hacks and light horses, £8 to £l(i. For Saturday we have a special line of superior young draught horses from Victoria, mostly from Mr Boss’s own farms. These have landed without a scratch, and are on view in Mr Frank Hewitt’s stable. A. A. Mac Gibbon on behalf of the N.M. and A. Co. reports on the Invercargill markets as follows: Business generally, owing to the fine weather, has been rather dull during tbe past week, farmers being busily engaged getting their seed in. The demand recently for all kinds of seeds has been very good, orders have been pouring in, keeping everyone busy, and although rather a lull has set in the demand will soon improve. Stock sales are very small, but last market showed a decided improvement in fat sheep, which have been rather dull. Stores are not much in request, and only at prices in favor o: buyers. Fat cattle maintain their value, and aie scarce. SI or ■ cattle are offering freely, and nearly all fi id buyers at very bigprices. Dairy cows are still in good demand, and although pr:c js are very high, there is no trouble in disposing of them. We have sold privately a good line of hogget?, at fair value, and have several lines of go k! store cattle for private sals Skins and fat sales continue good, all consignments being placed at late rates.
