AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
The National Mortgage and Agency Co. of N.Z., Ltd , report; — The recent very stormy weather has had a very depressing effect on business of all kinds, and naturally stock transactions have been very limited, buyers finding that the severe weather had damaged feed and caused a considerable falling-off in the cpndition of alll classes of stock. In consequence large numbers of sheep have been placed on the market, and prices are hardly what could be wished at this season of the year, doubtless in many cases sellers having eaten their winter feed, and can show little, if any, profit. Gore sale, Tuesday, I.lth inst.—There was a large entry (mostly hoggets), and prices Were very uncertain, some classes selling well, while others were neglected. Best hoggets brought up tolls; good, to 10s 6d; while ordinary and small sold from 7s to 9s. Bat wethers sold up to 15s ; forward-conditioned do, to 13s; and ewes, in lamb, for which there was little demand, at up to 11b 3d for good half-breds, while crossbreds sold at 13s Id, being actually less than they were worth in March. The entry of cattle was small, a few fat cows bringing £6 10s to £7, half-fat, £o ; store, £3. Skin and fat Sale.—Our regular Monday sale was well attended, and competition was good throughout, dry skins selling from 3jd to 6d per lb, acco'ding to quality. Hides, to 17s Bd. Best fat, to 18s 6d per cwt; rough to 14s 6d. p We beg to draw attention to the large sale of dairy cows at Edcndalc Hcmestoid on Thursday, 24th inst., which bong a bona fide sale, buyers may rely on every let being sold at auction.
