G. Froggatt reports for wsek ending Friday, July 14— At my usual Monday sale of sheepskins, hides, etc., I submitted another largo catalogue to a fair attendance of buyers. Prices were as follows—Butchers’ sheepskins from 3s 9d to 4s 3d; country skins, 2s to ss4dj pelts. Is to Is 5d ; dry skins, best, s*d to 5 Jd; medium, 4.Vd to od; inferior, 3:Jd to 4id per lb ; horse-hair, Is ; locks, 2d ; rabbitskins, Is 3|d to Is 3ifd; tallow, 18s 9d per cwt.; fat (rough), 13s ; hides, good demand for well kept and heavy ; light 'a-nd out, prices low, 7s to 13s ; calfskins. Is to 2s od. At the Invercargill sale yards there was a brisk demand for cattle. Fat bullocks brought from £8 to £l2 15s ; fat cows, £8 5s to £9 12s 6d ; store cattle—an increasing demand for all sorts exists. Fat sheep—My entry was over 800. 1 sold best fat wethers from 15s 7d to 19s 8d (top prices) ; ewes and wethers from 12s 9d to 15s and ewes at 12s 9d; store wethers up .to 13s 3d. Prices throughout the sale were good. The J. G. Ward Farmers’ Association of New Zealand, Ltd. report for the week ending Friday, the 14th July, 1893 ;—-The regular fortnightly stock sale was held at Wallacetown Junction Saleyards on Tuesday last. The weather was all that could be desired, with a large attendance of farmers, butchers, and others interested. Bidding was brisk, and taking the sale in its sevaral departments was one of the best held for some time. Fat Cattle—About 101 head yarded, comprising a few pens of prime extra heavy weight bullocks and cows, the balance ranged from medium to inferior quality. Prices opened very brisk and continued so right through the sale. We quote prime quality bullocks and speyed cows up to 20s per 100 lb; inferior and medium from 17s (id to 22s Gd. Best bullocks, extra heavy weights, sold at £8 to £l2 17s 6d ; best cows, to L 9 12s 6d ; medium and inferior cows, from £5 to £7 10s. Fat sheep—Over 1100 penned. Only a few pens prime quality, the balance ranged from old ewes, barely killable, to medium quality wethers and maiden ewes, light weights. One pen extra good sold at 19s 8d; others from 12s Gd to IGs Gd. We sold several lots at quotations. Store Sheep—About 1150 penned comprising all classes. Forward conditioned wethers sold at 13s Gd to 14s 9d ; wethers and maiden ewes at up to 12s Gd; hoggets at 9s 5d to 10s Gd for best, and others up to Bs. Store Cattle —Only 59 yarded. We note a strong demand for forward conditioned bullocks and speyed cows, and also for one and two year old steers and heifers. Sheepskins, Hides, Babbitskius, Tallow, etc. At our regular weekly sale on Monday, we sold a fair catalogue to a full attendance of buyers. Full woolled sheepskins brought up to sid per lb ; pelts from Is to 2s ; butchers green skins from 3s 9d to 5s ; bides up to 2d per lb. Hough fat from 11s 9d to 14s. llabbitskins up 'to Is 2d per ib. Horsehair to Is per Ib.
