A VOICE FROM HEDGEHOPE.

A correspondent writes as follows; “ Keep the pot boiling.” Well, to do this means add more fire, and as I have one shovelful of ’‘real ” coal left I will replenish the burning element once more. Your correspondent has written a somewhat lengthy article, and no doubt was very well pleased with himself when he wiped his pen and read it over. Wonder did he think ‘‘ one man is as good as another.” His article from start to finish has a lot of the “ Ta-ra-ra-hoom-de-ay ” about it, and I will not trouble your columns to comment at at any length on it —only a few remarks. About last general election. That the Hon G. P. Richardson was not doing his duty and paying attention to the interests of our district is plain, or ho would have known we only had a weekly mail. Liberalism was gaining ground all over Hew Zealand, so it was in Hedgehope the Liberal candidate scored accordingly. Perhaps your correspondent as one of the minority at the polling booth, is still smarting under the pangs of defeat. One would think by his remarks that we were a Highland clan of the old school. It would take more than the Highland bagpipes to collect all Hedgehope together, and more than a chieftain to make them vote in a block. I will remind your correspondent that to throw up nationalities as he has been doing is unbecoming' of a gentleman.— That our late
