AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
A. A. Mac Gibbon, on behalf of the N.M. and A. Company, reports : —The recent fine dry winter weather has had a wonderfully reviving effect upon sales of stock, buyers being now eager to do business in all classes that will show a cbance of profit for turnip feeding. Good ewes are also in demand, bixt all classes of old sheep and low conditioned are difficult to sell. We held a sale at Drummond on Friday, 16th inst., when about 2000 sheep were yarded. Competition opened rather slack, but improved as the sale went on, resulting in most of the stock being disposed of. Best crossbred ewes, in lamb, brought 14s; good half-bred do, 12s 6d; old ewes, 6s to 8s; store wethers, 12s 7d; hoggets, to 11s 6d for best, and 8s for medium. At the Gore sale on Tuesday, 20th inst., about 4000 were yarded, consisting mostly of forward condition wethers, store wethers, lambs, and a few old sheep. The demand for forward condition wethers was very good, best selling at up to 13s lOd, while the bulk brought 13s; a few prime fat sold up to 15s 8d; store wethers, in low condition, were hard to quit, and then at low prices, sales being made at 9s 2d to 10s lOd ; good ewes brought up to 9s 4d for best, and 6s for inferior ; good half-bred ewes brought up to lls'3d, and culls, 3s, 4s lOd and ss.
