AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
H. Carswell and Co. report for the week ending 13th June, as follows : We held a sale of stock in the Invercargill yards to-day. The entries were fairly large, and the attendance good. Owing to the “late rains a few lines of sheep were not forward. The fat cattle as a whole were only of medium quality, hut notwithstanding competition was brisk. Store cattle sold at fully equal to late rates, and fat sheep were in fair demand, as were good lines of stores. Fat Cattle —Best bullocks brought from £7 15s to £8 17s 6d ; lighter, £6 to £6 15s; medium weight cows, £5 10s to £6 15s; light steers and spoyed heifers, £5 7s Gd qo £6 15s. We quote prime beef from 21s to 21s per 1001 b ; lighter, 18s to 20s. We sold 32 head at quotations. Store Cattle—Fens of three and four year old steers brought from £1 to £1 17s 6d; two year old steers and heifers, £2 10s to £3; yearling steers and heifers, 30s to £2; milk cows, £1 10s to £5 ss. Fat Sheep —Prime heavy wethers brought from 17s to 18s ; extra prime ewes and wethers, 18s 2d ; lighter, IBs to 14s 6d; aged ewes (prime), 13s to 14s 9d; lighter, 10s to 12s 3d. Store Sheep—Lines of well woolled lambs sold at 9s to 10s Gd; aged ewes, os to 7s Gd ; medium crossbred wethers, ITs'to 11s 9d. Wool, Skins, Hides, Tallow, etc—We held our weekly sale yesterday, the usual number of buyers" being present, and the sale proved spirited. Dry crossbred skins brought from 4id to 5Jd per lb butchers’ from 3s 3d to 4s ; pelts, Is to 2s; hides, If dto 2fd per lb ; rough tallow, 12s to 15s ; rendered, 16s to 18s°per cwt; rabbitskins (best winters), Is 2d to Is 4d per lb; others, 9d to lid; horsehair, Is per lb. Land.—We report a brisk inquiry for farms. During the week we placed farms atOtautau, Gladfield, Mataura Island, and Waikiwi —all at satisfactory prices. We have other sales pending.
