THE RABBIT CRUSADE.

The Tuapcka Times states that there was quite an exodus of young fellows from Lawrence lately in an up-country direction to join in the rabbit-poisoning operations which begin this month and continue during the winter season. Between twenty and thirty young fellows have left, and at the end of the season each expects to return with a £3O cheque as the result of his labours. These arc certainly not the people who regard the rabbits as a pest or an affliction, but rather as a blessing in disguise. Dunedin also is contributing its quota to the army of rabbit exterminators, Mt. Pisa and Morven Hills stations being the objective point for the streams of young men that are met along the road. Both of those stations are likely to employ for the winter a couple of hundred hands between them, and yet the deadly work must go on without abatement from year to year.
