THE MISSING WORD.
A lady going into a Lank in Birmingham to pay money in, stood in the .middle of the passage in front of the •counter, glancing through, her cheques. A hank clerk, anxious to have something to do, shouted out rather roughly — “ Come here if you are going to pay in.” As the lady was leaving she leant across the counter and said, so that every one near could hear — “Do you know the missing word for this week F” “2STo,” said the clerk sulkily; “what is it ?” “ Please,” replied the lady; and quietly walked out.
