PAINFUL REMINDER.
“You have promised to love me always, Reginald,”' she murmured, “but can I trust you, Reginald ? Can I trust —What is the matter dear?” “ Nothing, Gwendolen, nothing ! ” he replied, mastering himself with an effort. “A momentary spasm —nothing more. It is gone.” The question was the same that his tailor had asked him in a loud, harsh, sarcastic voice only an hour before.
