A WISE FOOL.
When the Earl o£ Bradford was brought before Lord Loughborough to be examined upon application fora statute of lummy against him, the Chancellor aske t him “ How many legs has a sheep I” “ Does your lordship mean.” answered Lord Bradford, “a live sheep or a dead one Y” . “Is it not the same thing ?” asked the Chancellor. “Ho, my lord,” said Lord Bradford, “there is much difference; a live sheep has four, a dead one but two. There are but two legs of mutton, the others are shoulders.”
