GENERAL STOCK REPORT. At the Junction Yards sale on Tuesday last bidding was no y slack all .through.. . \ cry few buyer's were present owing to the holidays. Nothing of any (oasequence can be reported of the sale of store cattle, while the sheep report for the yards remains almost the same as that of last week. There was an extra number of sheep yarded, but of inferior qualities. Old sheep were practically unsaleable, except at boiling down prices. Country sales have been good. Wairio—pretty large entry. Selling had to be continued until after 7 o'clock, owing to the late arrival of the train, and consequently some lots had to lie passed in unsold. Young stock was in fair demand, especially breeding ewes, they sold up to 13s 3d. Merinos from Is to 4s 3d ; old crossbred cull ewes from 2s Gd to ■6s ; better class from. 10s (id to 12s ; crossbred lambs, culls, from 2s (id to Is (id; good lambs, 6s (id to 8s (id. Store lambs show a drop of la to 2s as compared with prices ruling two months ago, due to the fact that many were then classed as fat when they were really sto esTln re wa- a splendid entry at the Winton sale on Thur.day, sheep coming ;n from all directions from Wednesday afternoon until noon on Thursday, when 11,000 had been entered. It proved the best sale held for some months. Prices were : —breeding ewes from 10s to 12s ; inferior, Os to 0s ; eulls, Is Gd to 4s; fat lambs, up to 12s ; good store lambs, up to 9s Gd; medium* from 6s to 8s Gd ; store wethers, from 9s to 10s ; fat do, up toils; heavy fat, up to 15s Considerable delay, causing the sale to be extended till ; ftci- dark, was occasioned through a large niimbir of rams being offered. The township was exceeding y busy throughout the day.
t 'ut of the 14,000 offered, only 5000 were advertised, and the various firms engaged in selling wish to impress sellers with the necessity of forwarding particulars in time. • Tho auctioneers of’ the town and district have decided in future to hold weekly sales at Invercargill yards, and fortnightly sales at Wairio, Wyndham, and Winton—a change due to the heavy, entries made of late.
